BYD Reaches Agreement with Turkish Government to Invest $1 Billion in Local Electric Vehicle Factory

According to a Bloomberg report citing a senior Turkish official, BYD will announce a $1 billion (currently about 72.83 billion yuan) investment in Turkey at a ceremony next Monday. The official stated that negotiations with BYD have been finalized, and the company will announce the construction of its second electric vehicle factory in Europe after announcing its first factory in Hungary. It is worth noting that Turkey spans Europe and Asia and is not a member of the European Union. The report mentions that Turkish President Erdogan is expected to announce this agreement at a ceremony in Manisa province next Monday. The completion of the new factory may make it easier for BYD to enter the European Union market.

According to the Bloomberg report, Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated in May this year that BYD and Chery were in deep negotiations regarding investments in Turkey.Kacır told Bloomberg that the Turkish government hopes to finalize the negotiations with the two companies as soon as possible. He revealed that the negotiations with both companies have made significant progress.
